Kelly Carlson has been in the retirement industry for over 30 years, helping plan sponsors and plan participants build effective retirement plan solutions. Focusing most of her time educating clients on plan functions concerning pension related ERISA, IRS and DOL Regulations.
Kelly started her career in 1993, as a pension plan administrator, responsible for plan compliance under ERISA regulations, including plan testing, administration and plan design. After spending several years learning the mechanics of retirement plans, she began working with many large retirement plan providers where she gained valuable insight in how retirement providers structure retirement plan products and plan investments. Kelly has tested, designed, implemented, enrolled and serviced hundreds of retirement plans over her career, including 401(k), 403(b), 401(a), 457 and defined benefit plans.

Having served in various roles throughout her career, including pension administrator, client relations manager and managing director, she decide to start her own retirement plan consulting firm, known as Advizrs. Her focus now is on helping people retire, working with corporations and non-profit organizations to structure a retirement plan which meets fiduciary standards of excellence and provides the best value for their plan participants.

Kelly lives in DeLand, Florida with her husband Jim and their two boys, Graham and Davis. She enjoys spending time with her family, running and traveling.

As a student of the industry with specialized and technical knowledge, Sam provides a thorough and thoughtful approach to assisting plan sponsors develop retirement plan best practices. His strategy includes fiduciary education and support, investment experience and assistance with effective plan design solutions. Sam is regularly consulted for advice regarding all aspects of ERISA, IRS and DOL regulatory issues, plan implementation guidelines and ongoing plan maintenance for 401(k), 403(b), 457, profit sharing and pension plans. Sam began his career in 1975 as a retirement plan specialist with a national insurance company. He has implemented hundreds of new and take-over retirement plans, developing a very detailed knowledge of ERISA, IRS and DOL regulations. As the qualified retirement plan industry matured, Sam was promoted to Vice President of Sales – Southern Region. His professional career included not only retirement plan sales and implementation, but also managing national sales efforts while educating retirement plan advisors and service personnel on how to best implement, design and service qualified retirement plans. He also opened, staffed and trained employees in 12 regional offices throughout the country. The retirement plan industry includes a wide variety of corporate retirement plan investment products and Sam understands the nuances of many products on the market, and has seen first-hand the transformation of the retirement plan industry and investment platforms over the years. Sam has educated and supported hundreds of plan investment advisors and plan sponsors throughout his career. As testament to his experience, relationship-building and business acumen, he developed successful relationships with ERISA attorneys, plan auditors (including ex-DOL auditors), employee benefit specialists and TPA firms. He continues to utilize these relationships to support his clients today. Sam has served as an officer and a board member for numerous business related organizations throughout his career. He serves on many committees and boards at Saints Peter and Paul Parish Church in New Braunfels. He is also involved with a local mission – The Mission of Divine Mercy in Canyon Lake, Texas, as the Director of Development. He has also been a member of the New Braunfels Wurstfest Association, a non-profit community organization, for over 30 years. Shannon McIntosh has more than 20 years of experience in the employee benefits industry, providing insurance brokers, financial advisors and corporate clients with guidance and assistance on qualified pension administration services and health insurance products.   Her responsibilities have been focused primarily on marketing and selling qualified retirement plan administration services, as well as development and negotiation of plan proposals.  Accordingly, Shannon is adept at communicating and explaining qualified plan design features, plan investment options, plan qualification requirements, document options, legislative trends, and pension-related ERISA, IRS and Department of Labor regulations.

Prior to joining Advizrs, Shannon acquired a wealth of experience through employment with insurance and pension institutions that placed emphasis on customer-focused communication skills.   She puts that valuable skill-set and industry knowledge base to work at Advizrs, serving as a client services and marketing consultant.

Shannon earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Florida.   She lives in Tampa, Florida with her husband and their three children.  Her extracurricular interests include studying ballet, wellness and whole foods culinary practices.
